Breakthrough VoIP Platform Merges Voice, Data

Woburn, MA, July 2001

TAC Centre, Inc., an international telecommunications company, today announced the deployment of the first Communication Server for Enterprise (CSE) 1000. This server-based, pure-IP (Internet Protocol) communication system gives large, multi-site businesses the most advanced, converged voice/data applications available in a single, network-based solution.

This is the latest in a series of innovative Enterprise platforms grounded in Nortel Networks customer-centric philosophy. Nortel Networks Succession CSE 1000 helps drive enterprise profitability through breakthrough, IP-based design.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is dedicated to research and higher education at the frontiers of ocean science. They are pleased to work with TAC Centre to deploy this solution as it greatly enhances their work.

“Nortel Networks ‘evergreen’ philosophy makes it possible for us to transition smoothly from our 13-year old SL-1* XT directly to the IP generation,” said Linda Benway, telecommunications coordinator for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, located on Cape Cod, MA. “We were happy that TAC Centre could implement this Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) product incrementally without having to sacrifice communications services to our end-users.”

The Evergreen philosophy delivers new capabilities while protecting the majority of existing investments. Succession CSE 1000 supports a comprehensive range of critical networking services and features for IP networks. Included are a unified dialing plan, automatic least-cost routing, and advanced networking capabilities such as network queuing and routing controls. It supports other management features and application for an unrivaled solution suite. Other critical, customer-required functionality includes:

  • Integrated conferencing
  • Conference bridge capabilities
  • Integrated recorded announcements
  • Call detail recording.
